Position Summary
The BIM Mechanical Engineer is a crucial hybrid role that combines deep mechanical engineering principles with expert proficiency in BIM software and methodologies. You will be responsible for developing detailed 3D models of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Piping), producing construction documents, performing clash detection, and supporting the project team from conceptual design through to construction and handover. Key Responsibilities
Model Development & Management:

• Develop, manage, and review complex 3D BIM models for mechanical systems using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
• Create and maintain families, templates, and standards to ensure model consistency across projects.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other MEP disciplines to integrate models into a single, coordinated federated model.

Design & Documentation:

• Generate detailed construction drawings, plans, sections, schedules, and diagrams directly from the BIM model.
• Perform engineering calculations (e.g., heating/cooling loads, pipe sizing, duct sizing) to inform model design.
• Ensure all models and drawings adhere to company standards, project requirements, and relevant codes (IMC, IPC, ASHRAE, etc.).

Coordination & Collaboration:

• Lead and participate in clash detection sessions using coordination software like Navisworks Manage or BIM 360/Acc.
• Identify, report, and help resolve conflicts between mechanical systems and other building elements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and drafters to ensure design intent is accurately captured in the model.
• Attend project meetings and provide BIM-related updates.

Process & Technical Leadership:

• Contribute to the development and implementation of BIM execution plans (BEP) and standards.
• Stay current with the latest trends in BIM technology, software updates, and industry best practices.
• Provide training and technical support to junior drafters and engineers on BIM processes and software.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in a similar role, specifically with MEP BIM for building systems.
• Software Proficiency:
• Expert-level knowledge of Autodesk Revit for MEP is essential.
• Strong skills in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Navisworks Manage for clash detection and coordination.
• Familiarity with BIM 360/Acc or other Common Data Environments (CDE).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Technical Knowledge:
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, HVAC systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (IMC, IPC, ASHRAE).
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Experience with Dynamo for Revit for automation.
• Familiarity with energy modeling software (e.g., IESVE, Trane Trace).
• Experience with 4D (scheduling) and 5D (cost) BIM.
• Experience on large-scale commercial, healthcare, or industrial projects.
