The Baker is responsible for the preparation, baking, and presentation of various baked goods, including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other items. The position requires knowledge of baking techniques, adherence to food safety standards, and the ability to produce high-quality baked goods consistently. A Baker must also maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Baking and Preparation:
Prepare and bake a variety of items, such as bread (croissant & danish) , pastries, cookies, cakes, pies, and other baked goods, following standard recipes and company specifications.
Ensure products are baked to the appropriate texture, color, and quality standards.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, using appropriate tools and equipment.
Decorate cakes and pastries with icing, glazes, and toppings as needed.
Food Safety and Sanitation:
Follow all food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items to prevent contamination.
Maintain a clean and organized baking environment, ensuring all work surfaces, tools, and equipment are sanitized regularly.
Comply with all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with pastry chef, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations and timely production.
Assist in training and mentoring junior bakers or kitchen staff as needed.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school or baking training is a plus.
Qualifications
Proficiency of various baking techniques, recipes, and equipment, including bread making.
Ability to follow recipes and adjust measurements and techniques as needed.
Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality baked goods.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
Experience in recipe development and creative decorating skills.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and proper handling of ingredients.
Strong time management and organizational skills to efficiently handle multiple baking tasks.
Previous professional baking experience is highly desirable.
