JOB PURPOSE:

To execute activities of the Compliance Sanctions List Management Team including managing sanctions lists, reviews of policy procedure; validating external list and other ad hoc tasks within the remit of the Sanctions List Management Team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Responsibilities

• Support the VP Sanctions List Management as follows:

Sanctions List Management

• Assist in creation of standard operating procedure; Governance documents and internal department manual.
• Conduct and monitor the testing exercise of screening system of the bank to for the purpose of improving its effectiveness and efficiency and to confirm that it is in line with Bank's risk appetite.
• Managing internal list creation and assist in addition or update of new external list based on respective stakeholder.
• Monitoring list configuration and update the list artefact.
• Perform external list validation exercise to ensure latest sanction updates from main regulatory (OFAC, UN, EU & HMT) are available in bank's vendor to avoid the screening gap.
• Monitor the status of list upload and take required action for upload failure.
• Review the request for addition, deletion and update into Internal List and action the same.
• Update the Good Guy list and conduct periodic review.
• Assist to international team in deployment for firco system.
• Review the audit points and assist in mitigation process and closure of findings.
• Respond to CBUAE requests for account freezing etc.
• Manage and review necessary rules in Fircosoft sanctions screening software in line with the approved sanctions screening risk appetite.
• Execute other duties as directed by the Sanctions List Management Senior or the Sanctions Unit Head.

Generic

• Execute IA recommendations for findings against the Sanctions List Management Team.
• Participate in relevant financial crime related projects as per the project guidelines set by the Compliance Governance Department.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvements to Sanctions List Management related systems, processes and practices based on risks and control deficiencies identified.

Reporting

• Provide guidelines to the Technology, Data & Reporting Team on KPI's and KRIs for reporting to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, AML, risk management or internal audit.
• At least 3 years of business experience preferably in Compliance and/or Audit in Banks
• Good understanding of regional laws and applicable international regulations and good knowledge of AML/CTF and Sanctions operations in Banks
• Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills
• Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and manage challenging workload
• Preferable bilingual, Fluent in English and Arabic with strong written and verbal skills
• Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace, whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Discrete and has sense for integrity and handles highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.

Minimum Experience

• At least 3 years of business experience preferably in Compliance and/or Audit in Banks
