Car Upholsterer / Automotive Upholstery Technician

Job Summary:

The Car Upholsterer is responsible for repairing, replacing, or customizing the interior upholstery of vehicles, including seats, door panels, headliners, carpets, and other interior components. This role requires skill in sewing, fabric handling, foam work, and attention to detail to restore or enhance the vehicle's interior aesthetics and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect vehicle interiors for damage, wear, or defects. Remove and replace damaged upholstery components (fabric, leather, vinyl, foam). Measure, cut, sew, and install upholstery materials. Repair minor damages such as tears, burns, and worn areas. Rebuild or replace seat padding and springs if necessary. Re-dye or refinish leather and vinyl surfaces. Use hand and power tools including sewing machines, staple guns, and steamers. Customize interiors based on customer specifications or restoration requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area. Communicate with customers or team members regarding repair estimates and timelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience with sewing machines and hand tools. Knowledge of automotive interior materials and repair techniques. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. Ability to measure, cut, and assemble fabric or leather accurately. Good physical condition; ability to lift, bend, and work in tight spaces. Prior experience in automotive upholstery or similar field (preferred).

Work Environment:
