An Automotive Electrician installs, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains electrical systems in vehicles. This role involves working with wiring, lighting, electronic control systems, and onboard computers to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose electrical faults using diagnostic tools and schematics
Install, repair, and maintain vehicle wiring, lighting, and electrical components
Test batteries, alternators, starters, and charging systems
Repair or replace sensors, relays, fuses, and control modules
Install accessories such as alarms, radios, GPS systems, and cameras
Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals
Ensure all work meets safety standards and manufacturer specifications
Keep accurate service records and report findings to supervisors or customers
Required Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand tools
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Attention to detail and safety awareness
Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical ability to work in workshop environments
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Vocational training or certification in automotive electrical systems (preferred)
Previous experience as an automotive electrician or auto technician (preferred)
