Job Description

Job Purpose Plan, coordinate and monitor all maintenance activities related to automation equipment on assigned plant and site and at workshop in collaboration with the Supervisors; guide and direct the automation maintenance team on daily routine maintenance activities and during emergency works, planned works or planned shutdowns in order to review and evaluate equipment performance and support in all initiatives to enhance productivity, uninterrupted operations and process improvements in liaison with internal and external parties as directed by Automation Lead Engineer and as per planned objectives.

Key Accountabilities Supervision of Subordinates

Organize and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of the activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy. Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development.Budgets and Plans

Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon. Together with the Lead Engineer, ensure effective execution of maintenance activities of the assigned unit in line with the maintenance plans and approved budgets in accord with defined HSE and quality standards. Identify material/equipment required for any automation maintenance and management activities according to preventive maintenance schedule, work requisitions or notifications in urgent and emergency situations at all company locations and coordinate with Maintenance Planning & Turnaround, Automation Supervisor and Heads for the timely availability of all requirements. Diagnose faults, analyse malfunctions and breakdowns and plan work schedules accordingly while determining priorities in consultation with the Lead Engineers, Supervisors and Operations in order to ensure continuous operations of the plant operations.Guidance and Review of Maintenance Operations

Collaborate with Engineering Services to prepare feasibility studies for new installations, replacement or repair of existing automation equipment including technical evaluation, specifications and materials for modifications together with process diagrams and cost estimates; prepare for follow up reports and evaluation on the modifications completed. Lead and manage the work of assigned Automation supervisor at onsite or in the workshop, ensuring safe, efficient, economic execution of maintenance activities for optimizing maintenance resources and cost and propose outsourcing of jobs to Contractors were deemed necessary in line with the company requirements and resource optimization initiatives. Develop and supervise the implementation of the companys automation/instrumentation maintenance programs ensuring safe, efficient, and economic application of procedures. This includes the coordination between workshop and maintenance planning to implement optimal maintenance operations. Troubleshoot critical problems or breakdowns and conduct investigations, diagnose faults, and determine the best action for remedy and ensure that proper repairs are done in line with the company's quality and HSE standards. Investigate assigned incident reports and recommend corrective actions in line with approved policies and procedures. Analyse and evaluate problematic equipment/system with repeated maintenance and recommends replacements to the Planning team. Recommend changes to the equipment model for standardization or other purposes as deemed to be necessary to improve reliability and availability and reduces maintenance cost Participate in the investigation and specification of modifications to existing systems; prepare preliminary submissions including technical specifications and materials for modifications together with accompanying drawings, process diagrams and cost estimates. Ensure that the maintenance systems, procedures, and instructions are followed strictly while executing work requested by all internal departments while liaising with Operations for effective execution of work and to minimize the downtime of equipment and increase their reliability. Receive/review and approve urgency work orders received by Maintenance Planning & Turnaround; discuss and determine priorities in conjunction with Lead, Head of Automation and Operations heads making detailed assessment of resources requirement, man hours and logistics in order to facilitate uninterrupted operations. Together with the Lead Engineer, liaise with manufacturers' representatives on escalated/ critical problems occurring with machinery operation or automation maintenance, which cannot be solved within the company (Includes providing reports and keeping record of works carried out.) while preparing Service Contracts for all related automation / instrument maintenance work as required. Manage the automation maintenance of the assigned plant and equipment to the required standards in order to maximise operating efficiency, ensure replacement in line with budget targets, ensure adequate maintenance of all plant equipment Supervise and participate in the preventive maintenance and repair of all automation equipment which may involve planned shutdown work in close liaison with Operations and Maintenance Planning & Turnaround personnel. Ensure that all maintenance documentation is completed correctly including the Maintenance Log, outlining the fault, method of repair and the time, labour and materials used to support timely availability of information.Preventive Maintenance

Guide the development and execution of detailed work programmes for preventive and routine maintenance schedules; monitor and control the implementation of these programs on all company facilities to decrease forced outages, and to maintain operational efficiency. Recommend changes in the preventive or routine maintenance schedules while providing technical advice on all aspects of automation/instrumentation equipment while recommending improvements and modifications to units consistently malfunctioning or working below required performance levels.Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account global best practices", improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.System Administration

Supervise the effective administration of SAP processes within the automation maintenance section and adherence to SAP guidelines in all related aspects of annual and monthly planning, scheduling, master data management, (reviewing breakdown, corrective maintenance notification, creating the maintenance work orders and planning etc.) in order to ensure system/data integrity in line with defined company standards.Networking

Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all relevant internal departments and external entities such as contractors, and service providers etc. with highest standards of business ethics, whilst promptly attending to all critical technical issues in-order to ensure the services required by the organization are delivered in the most effective manner. Represent the company externally with customers and stakeholders in all technical meetings to handle any escalated technical matters.Material Management

Lead the preparation of annual requirements for equipment, spare parts and general materials for the assigned unit to support timely availability of requirements as per maintenance plans.Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

Provide inputs and implement departmental policies, systems, and procedure across the plant so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service. Supervise and co-ordinate according to relevant procedures activities during any emergency situations which may arise to facilitate optimum protection of companyresources in line with defined HSE policies and procedures.Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of activity to guarantee employee safety, compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude. Collaborate with HSE and Quality on related issues such as process safety, maintaining and updating system documentation and continuous improvement systems, etc. to achieve and exceed target standards.Statement and Reports

Supervise and provide inputs in the preparation of timely and accurate departmental statements and reports to business coordination unit to meet companys and department requirements, policies and standards. Lead and guide the recording and reporting of work completion, job status and other required data to Management and Operations to facilitate strategic decision making.Related Assignments

Perform other related duties or assignments as directed. Qualifications and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline. 5 years of related experience in the assigned field of Maintenance with at least 3 years of growing supervisory / team leadership responsibilities. Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical)
