Job Description
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: Under general supervision, performs efficient repair of vehicles in the workshop and for maintaining the highest standards of repair quality following repair procedures. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safeguards that a job card is issued with details of the repair work to be carried out;
- Guarantees that protective covers are used in all vehicles before carrying out any repairs;
- Ensures accurate time recording (clocking on and off) for all repairs;
- Informs the Workshop Supervisor of any additional repairs required, delays in repair when the completion time cannot be met, and any specific difficulties due to unavailability of spare parts or tools;
- Ensures that all repairs carried out are properly authorized including warranty work;
- Maintains the highest quality standards in all repair work carried out;
- Repairs damage to metal body work on vehicles and forms replacement vehicle panels;
- Removes damaged panels and parts, or removes upholstery and accessories to gain access;
- Straightens damaged vehicles and parts using mechanical and hydraulic equipment;
- Fills depressions with plastic filler, and files, grinds and sands repaired surfaces:
- Repairs panes by welding on new sections:
- Ensures proper maintenance and serviceability of hand tools and personal work clothing.
- Performs other related duties at may be required by immediate superior.
