Job Description

The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer and the hotel management team in overseeing the operation and maintenance of all hotel engineering systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems. This role ensures that the property is well-maintained, safe, and operating efficiently to provide an exceptional guest experience while complying with all local codes and brand standards.

Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians and contractors. Conduct regular inspections of hotel systems, equipment, and public areas to ensure proper operation and safety. Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and recorded properly. Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution. Monitor energy and utility usage and contribute to conservation efforts. Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment; coordinate purchases when necessary. Support in managing capital projects, renovations, and emergency repairs. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and fire prevention regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hotel building systems and assist in training engineering staff. Stand in for the Chief Engineer during absences or as required.
