Job Advert Description
There is an opportunity to join Trowers & Hamlins\' corporate practice in Muscat, Oman. Trowers & Hamlins is a City-led, international and national law firm with 174 partners and over 1100 staff. With offices across the UK, Middle East and Asia, we provide a full-service integrated offering. We are looking for an associate with around four years\' corporate experience, ideally mainly in Oman, to work on a variety of matters with a primary focus on M&A, transactional matters, corporate advisory and general Oman law enquiries. Experience of Omani corporate matters is essential and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a detailed and up to date knowledge of local procedures and requirements. We work with a mix of domestic and international clients, This is a busy corporate team which works across our network of offices with excellent prospects for career development for the right candidate. Principal responsibilities: The role will cover a broad range of tasks and will involve working closely with partners. In particular it will include:
  • Advising on M&A transactions including share and business acquisitions and disposals.
  • Advising on joint ventures, private equity investment and shareholders\' agreements.
  • Advising on public takeovers and equity capital markets transactions.
  • Advising on private company reorganisations and intra-group transfers.
  • Supporting the banking and energy teams with their corporate requirements.
  • Advising on transaction structures.
  • Advising on general Omani law matters.
  • Assisting with the management of junior lawyers.
Person specification: The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at this grade. In particular for this role we require:
  • Proven ability to take on responsibility and manage files.
  • Drive, enthusiasm and commercial awareness.
  • Flexibility, positivity and an ability to work effectively in a close-knit office.
  • A strong transactional track record. Ideally, the candidate will have experience of leading on transactions independently and the capacity to work with autonomy as well as part of a team.
  • Directly relevant post-qualification experience gained at a recognised and busy corporate practice.
Experience and qualifications:
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Around four years\xe2\x80\x99 post qualification experience gained at a reputable firm, the majority of which must have been in Oman.
  • Experience in providing legal and regulatory advice to large corporates.
  • Experience of dealing with Omani institutions such as the MoCIIP, MoHUP, CMA and CBO.
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic is essential.
