Position Overview
Associate Environmental Specialist job in Dubai, UAE supporting environmental planning and impact assessment for large-scale infrastructure and masterplan developments. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental and Social Impact Assessments for infrastructure, community development, marine, and coastal projects
  • Manage and coordinate EIA and ESIA inputs from multidisciplinary specialists including engineering, hydrology, and environmental experts
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to manage approvals and present assessment findings
  • Interpret EIA and ESIA outcomes to guide masterplanning and design teams on mitigation measures and environmental responses
  • Lead project management, contract administration, and coordination activities related to environmental scope
  • Mentor and review work produced by junior environmental team members
  • Manage environmental subconsultants, review impact assessment studies, and coordinate delivery schedules
  • Prepare RFPs for appointment of environmental subconsultants and evaluate technical proposals
  • Align environmental studies with international safeguard requirements such as World Bank and IFC standards
  • Support environmental monitoring strategies and management plans linked to EIA and ESIA delivery
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an environmental-related discipline
  • More than 10 years of experience in environmental consultancy within international engineering or project management environments
  • Strong understanding of EIA and ESIA processes across infrastructure and masterplanning projects in the UAE and GCC
  • Sound knowledge of UAE environmental regulations, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
  • Experience working with development finance institution safeguard frameworks
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver work to tight deadlines
  • Confident communicator with experience presenting findings to clients and authorities
  • Flexible and proactive approach, capable of working independently and within multidisciplinary teams
