We are looking for an Associate - Electrical who will be a key part of the Buildings Management Team accountable for the operational performance, technical wellbeing and people leadership of the Electrical discipline across the Arup Middle East Buildings Practice located in Dubai. The role holder will also be responsible for the Project Manager (PM) role for selected multi or single disciplinary projects. The role holder must take a \xe2\x80\x98hands on\xe2\x80\x99 approach to all aspects of the role.

Role

Key responsibilities will include:

Business Leadership

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for the leadership and support of their team

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with Arup policies

\xc2\xb7 Ensure the right resources are utilised effectively at the right time across their team and projects

\xc2\xb7 Engaging with the wider Arup teams to ensure that communication and design processes are continually improved

\xc2\xb7 Lead the recruitment and selection process within the electrical discipline

\xc2\xb7 Conduct meaningful inductions and performance management appraisals that support the development of individuals and the business

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to succession planning and career development across their team

\xc2\xb7 Support the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions as required

\xc2\xb7 Attend and contribute to monthly Middle East Buildings Practice management meetings

\xc2\xb7 Lead the development of the discipline strategy and drive the implementation of the Practice and Region strategy

\xc2\xb7 Provide project and team updates for the development of the electrical discipline

\xc2\xb7 Attend and lead team and project meetings, cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from the team

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the setting and delivering of discipline and project forecasts and targets

\xc2\xb7 Lead by example and ensure AMS and IPP compliance across their team and projects

Business Development

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions

\xc2\xb7 Actively develop external and internal client relationships

\xc2\xb7 Proactively co sell other Arup services and where applicable the wider business

\xc2\xb7 Act as the Bid Manager on selected prospects

\xc2\xb7 Provide technical leadership to respond to prequalification documents, Request for Price (RFPs) and other client inquiries

Project Leadership

\xc2\xb7 To act as PM on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality multi and single disciplinary projects

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that own projects adhere to AMS and that projects led by direct reports adhere to AMS

\xc2\xb7 Accountable for the formation of the contractual relationship between the business and the client; taking the process from proposal to contract, utilising the advice of the support functions

\xc2\xb7 Engage with Arup overseas teams at the Prospect stage through to completion to ensure the most cost-efficient delivery of their projects.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure proactive project planning, stakeholder and risk management takes place across projects

\xc2\xb7 Supervise the team to identify, assess and manage major project risk and secure the best commercial return from the projects in their portfolio

\xc2\xb7 To ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met

\xc2\xb7 Accountable for the delivery of project financial targets, forecasts, working capital targets for own projects

\xc2\xb7 Support the overseeing and delivery of the process of working capital management from inception to completion within set deadlines; This includes the timing of invoicing, the review of Work in Progress (WIP) and the collection of outstanding invoices from clients whilst utilising the advice of the support functions as necessary

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the completion of monthly management project reports to be issued by set deadline

Technical

\xc2\xb7 Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline, other disciplines and engineering innovations and developments on a global scale

\xc2\xb7 Initiate and support the technical capabilities of the discipline and the company wide business

\xc2\xb7 Maintain contact with key technical leaders across Arup offices and around the world

\xc2\xb7 Lead technical solutions on projects

\xc2\xb7 Drive innovation and utilise technological advancement

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to and lead design reviews in alignment with the AMS system

\xc2\xb7 Act as the technical authority for electrical engineering

\xc2\xb7 Willing to write design reports, specifications and produce electrical design required.

Requirements and skills

\xc2\xb7 BEng / BSc (Hon) in Electrical engineering or equivalent degree with minimum 10 years post graduate experience

\xc2\xb7 Member of associated Professional body

\xc2\xb7 Chartered Engineer status required

\xc2\xb7 Experience and proven ability to lead and manage an engineering team and multi-disciplinary projects

\xc2\xb7 Experience of working in a Middle East environment preferred

\xc2\xb7 Good interpersonal skills essential

\xc2\xb7 Comprehensive experience in associated discipline software

\xc2\xb7 Holding the following is advantageous: Dubai Municipality accreditation, Dubai Civil Defence accreditation, Society of Engineers card
