Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support the supervision and delivery of marine and coastal engineering construction works, including breakwaters, quay walls, revetments, land reclamation, and dredging. The ARE will report to the Resident Engineer and will work closely with the supervision team to ensure the project is executed to the required quality, safety, environmental, and schedule standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising marine / coastal construction works in accordance with contract documents, specifications, and drawings.

Oversee and maintain accurate records of daily site activities.

Monitor contractor's performance and progress against the baseline programme.

Prepare daily and weekly site reports, including photographic records.

Review contractor's construction submissions (programme, pre-qualification, design, shop drawing, material, method statement, risk assessment, and inspection & testing plan submittals).

Review contractor's progress submissions (daily, weekly and monthly reports).

Witness and document inspection, testing, and commissioning activities.

Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.

Assist in managing changes, variations, claims, and RFIs.

Support the resolution of technical and construction issues on site.

Support in the issuing of site observations and non-compliance reports and the implementation of corrective actions.

Ensure implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan on site.

Ensure implementation of quality (QA/QC) plan on site.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or Marine Engineering.

7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in marine / coastal engineering projects.

Previous involvement in supervision of works such as dredging, reclamation, revetments, groynes, breakwaters, sea walls, quay walls, slipways, ro-ro berths, floating berths, fixed jetties, and beaches.

Familiarity with international construction standards (e.g., BS, EN, ASTM) and contract forms (e.g., FIDIC).

Proficient in interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Strong communication and reporting skills.

Strong organisation and coordination skills.

Proficient in IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, SharePoint, AutoCAD).

Fluency in English (written and spoken).

GCC project experience preferred.

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of geotechnical and coastal engineering principles.

Understanding of marine construction methodologies (e.g., use of marine plant and equipment, rock placement, piling, precast concrete construction, marine surveying).

Ability to use project management tools (e.g., Primavera).

Familiarity with environmental mitigation and monitoring in coastal / marine zones.
