Job Overview



The Assistant Procurement Engineer supports the procurement and cost control functions within ongoing engineering and construction projects. This role assists in preparing cost estimates, coordinating purchasing activities, maintaining supplier records, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support efficient and cost-effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities1. Cost Estimation Support



Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and collecting cost data for preliminary project estimates. Support in developing feasibility studies and budget comparisons. Gather market price information and prepare cost analysis reports for review by senior staff. Learn and use industry-standard estimation tools (Candy CCS, CostX, PlanSwift, or similar).

2. Budget & Resource Coordination



Support project teams in tracking planned vs. actual cost expenditures. Assist in preparing budget monitoring and variance reports. Coordinate with engineers and project managers to collect resource requirement data.

3. Risk & Cost Control



Help identify potential risks related to procurement costs, delivery delays, or resource discrepancies. Assist in monitoring project cost performance and escalate deviations to management. Provide administrative and analytical support for decision-making.

4. Supplier & Subcontractor Assistance



Assist in sourcing new suppliers and subcontractors. Gather quotations and maintain comparison sheets for evaluation. Support in preparing supplier prequalification documents. Participate in maintaining vendor performance records and relationships.

5. Procurement & Purchasing Operations



Prepare purchase requisitions, RFQs, and purchase orders under supervision. Track and follow up on deliveries to ensure alignment with project schedules. Update procurement logs, databases, and ERP entries (SAP, Oracle, Odoo, or similar). Ensure compliance with procurement policies and quality standards.

6. Contract & Document Management



Assist in drafting, organizing, and filing contracts and purchase agreements. Help track contract performance and compliance. Provide administrative support during negotiation and communication with suppliers.

7. Quantity Surveying Support



Participate in site measurements and assist with quantity take-offs. Support in preparation of work progress reports and cost allocations. Assist in preparing interim statements and final account documentation.

QualificationsEducation



Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical), Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business, or related field.

Experience



1-3 years of experience in procurement, cost estimation, or supporting roles in construction or contracting companies. Experience in EPC or design-build environments is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies



Strong numerical, analytical, and reporting skills. Basic understanding of procurement processes and commercial terms. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel required). Experience with procurement or ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, or Odoo is a plus. Knowledge of estimation tools (Candy CCS, CostX, PlanSwift) is an advantage. Good communication and negotiation support skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)



Timely processing of procurement documents (minimum 95% on-time completion). Accuracy of quotation and comparison sheets. Supplier documentation and database accuracy. Compliance with procurement procedures and company policies. Contribution to procurement cost savings and process improvements.
