About the job Assistant Manager-Design
Reports To: Design Manger Company: GEW Grade : 7 Department: Design Job purpose: (A summary of why the job exists.) Assistant Manager will direct team of structural designers, design coordinators & Tekla modelers under the guidance of design manager, by assigning tasks, mentoring, and guiding team members, attending client/consultant/third party/DM/ADM meetings, ensuring timely delivery of designs, and deliver error free design & drawings to client as well as workshop Key Job Responsibilities
- Coordinating with the Design Engineers for all the ongoing projects
- Ensures the drawings and designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards
- Should have an overall design experience in Steel Bridges, Industrial projects like pipe racks and process plants and commercial projects like auditoriums, Shopping Malls etc..
- Should be well-versed and up to date with Designing and detailing Software\xe2\x80\x99s in the market such as STAAD, Idea statica etc.
- Should be an expert in analysis & design software SAP & ETABS
- Should be expert in stage construction analysis & temporary structure design.
- Coordinate with project team & assist in finalizing method statement for erection.
- Attending meeting with Clients / Consultants for drawing clarification, resolving of the technical disputes, drawing / design submission commitment.
- Writing letter to Client / Project Managers claiming for the abortive Man-hours and extra time for change / modification made by Client at a later date.
- Assistance Tender design, estimation and interaction with Client / Contracts Manager for required clarification / missing information etc.
- Checking of building design and connection design calculation document prepared by Design Engineers.
- Attending to Design Engineers and Co-coordinators time to time to solve the problems faced by them for the running jobs.
- Ensuring the Lead Designer delivers in accordance with the project base lien program and the Client\xe2\x80\x99s requirements, as well as adhering to budgetary targets.
- Modification / over viewing of design drawing issued by Consultant, in order to ensure stability design safe, and to make simple from fabrication / erection point of view.
- Standardization of design activity and detailing work, which helps reducing the design / draughting time at the same time minimizes the personal error.
- Maintaining the QA and QC procedures. Introduction of more work instruction / check list required from time to time.
- Planning, scheduling to meet the project requirement and allocation of proper manpower
- Qualifications: Requires Minimum bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in civil engineering, Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in structural engineering will be an added advantage.
- Dubai Municipality (Minimum G+12) certification and Society of Engineers membership is a must.
- Experience: Minimum 12 to 15 Years of total experience in design of steel structure.
- Excellent knowledge in Designing as per the Dubai/Abu Dhabi Municipality regulations.
- To be Well-versed in designing Structures with American, British and Eurocode Standards.
- Capable of handling up to 15 to 20 Staff members which includes Design engineers, Design coordinators Tekla Modelers etc
- Technical knowledge of the design process
