The Assistant Manager - Production is a supervisory role responsible for supporting the Production Manager in overseeing manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety. Here's a detailed breakdown of the role:Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning daily production schedules to meet targets.
Supervise shop floor activities, ensuring smooth workflow.
Monitor production output and address bottlenecks.
Ensure products meet quality standards and compliance..
Implement corrective actions for defects or deviations.
Identify inefficiencies and suggest process optimizations.
Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives.
Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols (PPE, OSHA standards).
Monitor raw material availability and minimize wastage.
Coordinate with procurement and stores for timely material supply.
Maintain production records (output, downtime etc).
Prepare reports for senior management.
Enforce workplace safety regulations.
Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Production) or related field.
Experience: 3-5 years in manufacturing, with 2+ years in a tobacco industry.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of production machinery, ERP systems , and MS Office.
Understanding of TQM, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.
