Job Summary:

The Assistant Inventory Manager oversees and controls the full lifecycle of construction materials, consumables, tools, machinery, and formwork systems for multiple building projects. This role ensures accurate material planning, optimal stock levels, timely procurement, rental management, and proper utilization of resources across all sites. The position requires advanced knowledge of construction material types, formwork systems, and their operational requirements, as well as strong vendor management and ERP skills to integrate inventory operations with procurement, project management, and finance functions.

Key Responsibilities:



Develop and implement inventory control procedures specific to construction materials, tools, consumables, and formwork systems to minimize wastage, pilferage, and stock discrepancies. Maintain real-time material records in ERP, including stock levels, movements, consumption rates, and material allocation to projects. Manage the purchase, rental, and return of formwork systems (including aluminium, steel, timber, and modular formwork) in coordination with procurement and project teams, ensuring optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness. Coordinate with site storekeepers and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery, retrieval, and redistribution of materials between multiple sites. Implement material demand forecasting based on project schedules, BOQs, and consumption trends to prevent shortages or overstocking. Oversee quality checks of received materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved material submittals, and UAE construction standards. Maintain and track the movement of tools, equipment, and machinery between sites, ensuring calibration and maintenance schedules are followed. Analyse and report material usage efficiency, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvement. Develop strong relationships with suppliers, rental companies, and manufacturers to negotiate favourable pricing, rental terms, and delivery schedules. Ensure accurate tagging, labelling, and documentation of all inventory items, including barcoding where applicable. Coordinate with project managers and site engineers to align inventory management with construction progress and milestones. Prepare and present detailed monthly inventory and formwork utilization reports to management.

Qualifications and Experience:



Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. 10 years of inventory management experience with at least 5 years in the construction industry in a managerial role in the UAE. Strong knowledge of construction materials, MEP items, tools, and consumables. Proficient in ERP systems for inventory control and reporting.
