American International University (AIU) is looking for dynamic and engaged full-time faculty of Art History for its School of Architecture and Design. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, building successful learning environments with students, and collaboratively engaging with faculty and mentoring students.
AIU invites applicants for a full-time Faculty (Assistant, Associate) appointment in the School of Architecture and Design. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be an active member of the Art History field. The faculty of art history with advanced knowledge of ancient/medieval/early modern and/or modern and contemporary art history provides students with the expertise to investigate and explain the complex relationships between context and cultural production. The candidate will motivate students to think creatively and critically in an active and engaging learning environment. In art history coursework, he will help students gain a curiosity for creative inquiry, invention, critical thinking, and visual analysis. The candidate will also guide students as they navigate historical and contemporary expressive practices through critical encounters with art, artifacts, and other forms of cultural production. The individual will also be able to utilize and teach both studio coursework as well as technical or supplemental courses. Also, the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The position carries the expectation for research and school and University service in addition to teaching responsibilities. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching related to their specific expertise within the professional art history curriculum, and be able to work within a program, specialized in personal attention. Also, we expect leadership in undergraduate programs, curriculum development, mentoring, and startups. Qualifications:
Teaching and Learning Support

• University teaching experience is a must.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
• Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse university community.
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching related to their specific expertise within the professional Art History curriculum.
• Ability to update and develop professionally through further education and training.
• Sound knowledge of the art history discipline and design culture.

Research and Scholarship

• Active in academic research and have a good record of international publications.
• Leadership in undergraduate programs, curriculum development, mentoring, and startups.
• A sound understanding of research/innovation and scholarly activity.
• Prepare presentations at local, national, and international academic and practitioner conferences.
• Ability to organize and lead an exhibition in appropriate events of students\' works.

Communication

• Effective communication skills in English
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to provide activities for students that encourage learning abilities.
• Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students.
