The Architectural Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for buildings and structures based on architectural designs and specifications. This role also involves preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), developing cost estimates, and assisting with project quotations to ensure accurate financial planning and documentation. The ideal candidate has strong drafting skills, an eye for detail, and a solid grasp of materials, construction methods, and pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
Translate conceptual sketches and design ideas into clear, technically accurate construction drawings.
Work closely with architects and engineers to coordinate design intent and resolve technical issues.
Revise drawings based on design changes, client feedback, and site conditions.
Create and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for residential, commercial, and interior fit-out projects.
Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for materials, labor, and services.
Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain current pricing and specifications.
Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and standards.
Assist in preparing presentation drawings, 3D models, and renderings when needed.
Conduct site visits and take measurements to validate drawings and BOQs.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for BOQs).
Experience in preparing BOQs, cost estimation, and quotations.
Good understanding of construction materials, finishes, and techniques.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with quantity surveying or cost control software.
Experience with 3D modeling/rendering tools like SketchUp, Lumion, or Enscape.
Knowledge of sustainable materials and construction practices.
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based with occasional site visits for measurement and verification.
May require extended hours to meet project deadlines and client needs.
