Job Overview
The Aluminium and Glazing Designer will be responsible for creating detailed shop drawings, fabrication packages, and coordinated layouts for aluminium and glazing systems, ensuring seamless translation from architectural concepts to buildable solutions. The role requires a strong technical understanding of faxc3xa7ade and curtain wall systems, coordination skills, and proficiency in CAD and BIM tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare concept, schematic, detailed design, and shop drawings for aluminium and glazing systems including curtain walls, doors, windows, skylights, and cladding
- Develop fabrication drawings, cutting lists, and material take-offs in accordance with approved designs
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings to deliver accurate glazing layouts and system detailing
- Coordinate with faxc3xa7ade engineers, structural consultants, and internal teams to ensure integrated design solutions
- Ensure all designs meet project specifications, building codes, thermal performance requirements, and aesthetic standards
- Incorporate supplier specifications and guidelines from systems like Schxc3xbcco, Technal, Reynaers, and others
- Revise and update drawings based on consultant feedback, site conditions, and project modifications
- Support tender submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation related to aluminium and glazing works
- Work within BIM workflows and utilize CAD tools to produce clash-free, coordinated design outputs
- Assist in developing standardized detail libraries and templates for internal use
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
- 3-6 years of hands-on experience in aluminium and glazing design, preferably within the faxc3xa7ade, curtain wall, or cladding industry
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design expertise in high-rise, luxury, or commercial real estate projects is preferred
Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and 2D/3D modeling software; familiarity with BIM workflows is highly desirable
- Deep understanding of aluminium profiles, glass systems, fabrication techniques, and site installation requirements
- Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to technical detail with the ability to handle pressure and deadlines
- Knowledge of Dubai municipality regulations and local authority approval requirements is a plus
