Job Summary:

The a la carte Chef at

The Lime Tree Cafe

is responsible for preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality cafe-style dishes, including breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, light mains, and daily specials. The Chef ensures consistent taste, presentation, and portioning while maintaining hygiene standards and supporting smooth cafe operations during busy hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking

Prepare and cook all cafe menu items, including breakfast dishes, sandwiches, salads, light mains, and seasonal specials. Ensure dishes are consistently high in quality, fresh, and visually appealing. Follow recipes, plating guidelines, and cafe standards.

Section Management

Independently manage the assigned kitchen section (hot, cold, or breakfast station). Ensure all mise-en-place is ready and replenished throughout service. Monitor ingredient stock levels and communicate shortages to the Head Chef/Sous Chef.

Quality, Hygiene & Safety

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Follow HACCP and food safety guidelines. Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.

Operational Efficiency

Minimize wastage and contribute to cost control. Prioritize and manage orders efficiently during peak cafe hours. Ensure quick, timely service without compromising quality.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a CDP/DCDP in a cafe, casual dining, or restaurant setting. Strong knowledge of cafe-style food, breakfast dishes, light meals, and plating. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy cafe environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Passion for fresh, high-quality, well-presented food.
