is responsible for overseeing and executing airfield sweeping operations to ensure runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated paved surfaces remain free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD). This role is critical to maintaining flight safety and supporting continuous airfield operations at Al Udeid Air Base. The Lead supervises sweeping personnel, coordinates with airfield operations, and ensures compliance with U.S. military, host nation, and contract safety standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise airfield sweeping crews during day, night, and contingency operations
Plan, schedule, and assign sweeping tasks to ensure continuous FOD prevention coverage
Operate and oversee operation of airfield sweeping equipment (mechanical sweepers, vacuum sweepers, support vehicles)
Conduct routine inspections of runways, taxiways, aprons, shoulders, and ramps
Ensure compliance with airfield safety procedures, FOD prevention programs, and operational checklists
Coordinate with Airfield Management, ATC, and other base agencies to gain access to movement areas
Maintain logs, inspection records, and operational reports as required by contract
Train new personnel on sweeping procedures, equipment operation, and safety standards
Perform minor troubleshooting and report equipment maintenance issues
Enforce PPE usage and safe work practices at all times
Respond to emergency or urgent airfield cleaning requirements as directed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2-4 years of airfield operations, airfield maintenance, or sweeping experience
Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge of FOD prevention principles and airfield safety procedures
Ability to operate heavy or specialized sweeping equipment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
