Job Purpose

Provide technical support services related to Database Management to ensure continuous availability of Company\'s Database Systems.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
  • Perform data analysis and database design for new information systems, ensuring compliance with company\'s overall database architecture.
  • Monitor and evaluate database performance and implement modifications in database space utilisation, fine-tuning and re-structuring to provide optimal database services. Create and modify primary database storage structures and plan future resource requirements.
  • Set-up and install software for new system database and applications maintained by the database team by conducting relevant tests in liaison with the Senior Database Administrator and other Section heads in the Information Systems Department.
  • Set up, install and Configure High Availability and Disaster recovery environments for Databases under the guidance of Senior DBA / Section Head and provide technical support and provide advice to Information Systems staff and IT Technical Support staff on database management, including the recovery of database in case of abnormal failures.
  • Implement and configure Backups of databases and test and validate the integrity of the backups as per the Backup and recovery strategy
  • Implement Database security and Access control for both application and databases.
  • Carryout Code migration / Cloning of application and Databases. Review and apply the Patch for oracle databases and applications maintained by Database team.
  • Setup and implement Data warehouse and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load). Maintain archived data on appropriate storage devices to ensure proper retrieval in case of data restoration and modify data in the database, as per approvals, according to Official Request from the concerned users.
  • Determine future requirements and recommend purchase of software / hardware to be included in the budget.
  • Coordinate with Vendors when required. Ensure compliance of vendor activities with Vendor License agreements.
  • Establish evaluation criteria for new database software and conduct database technical evaluations.
  • Assist in controlling and monitoring end-users\' access to the various Application Database environments to ensure data and database security, integrity, accuracy and reliability.
  • Support database operations, security administration, space management and server installation.
  • Participate in the planning and testing of the Contingency and Disaster Recovery activities to maintain service levels and ensure the continuous operation of the information services.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all the database structures, design and changes.
  • Maintain Version Control for databases and maintain patch managements for applications maintained by the database team.

  • Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.

  • Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section\'s work programs in line with Company and International standards.
  • Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices
Reports
  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Accounting / Finance.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

6 years of experience.
