The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) is recruiting for the Fall 2022 semester within the Interior Design program. The program is specifically looking for an instructor to teach IDES 330: Business of Design course:

Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of adjunct vacancies from semester to semester. However, we invite qualified applicants who are willing to accept part-time teaching work on an as-needed basis to apply. Position Responsibilities: This course introduces basic global economics and general design business concepts such as the free enterprise system, legal forms of business and financial considerations. It also surveys business and management practices such as planning, decision-making, communication, global ethics, marketing, human resources, finance and entrepreneurial skills needed to open a design business. The course is also cross listed as: FASH 330/GDES 330.

Required Qualifications:
  • A BFA degree in interior design or allied disciplines, i.e., architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff,
    and student environment or commitment to do so as an employee at VCUQatar.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference is given to candidates with experience teaching to a diverse undergraduate student population in the Arab Gulf or larger MENA region.
  • Additional preference is given to candidates who have secure the National Council for Interior Design Education NCIDQ and/or the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification LEED GA/AP.
