Job Overview:
The Accounts Payable Team Leader, reporting to the Finance Manager, is responsible for accurate supplier records, safeguarding company payment assets, and ensuring timely supplier payments within agreed credit terms while controlling cash outflow.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Development
Supervise, guide, and develop the AP team, ensuring adequate training, daily/weekly reviews, and performance monitoring.
Plan and allocate daily tasks, conduct morning meetings, and set corrective action plans and payment targets.
2. Accounts Payable Operations
Oversee supplier reconciliations, invoice matching (3-way), payments, and compliance with credit terms.
Ensure accurate recording of supplier balances, AP Aging, Received Not Invoiced, and General Ledger reconciliations.
Maintain supplier master data and enforce controls on supplier creation and amendments.
Safeguard payments by verifying beneficiaries, approvals, and adherence to company policies.
3. Supplier Management
Manage relationships with local, foreign, and regional suppliers, including claims, credit notes, offsets, and disputes.
Ensure timely processing of local, foreign, and utilities payments as per agreed timelines.
Collaborate with procurement and other departments to resolve invoice delays, price revisions, and claims.
4. Financial Controls & Reporting
Drive month-end closing, ensuring reconciliations, accruals, and accurate reporting.
Provide forecasts of supplier payments and reflect in cash flow planning.
Monitor aging reports, challenge overdue items, and take corrective actions.
Reconcile VAT, cheques, and other AP-related accounts.
5. Systems & Process Improvement
Act as super-user of ERP (SAP/Oracle/M3), reducing manual work.
Develop and implement finance policies and process improvements to safeguard company assets.
Strengthen internal controls, especially for payments via exchange houses and special supplier arrangements.
Experience & Educational Qualifications required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certification in Accounting will be an added advantage (CMA / CPA).
Minimum 6 years of experience in the AP field, with minimum 2 years as a TL role.
In-depth knowledge of reconciliation, and period end closing process.
Working knowledge of ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle.
Working knowledge of Infor M3 will be an added advantage.
Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.
Attention to detail with high level of accuracy.
Strong Communication Skills in English. Arabic will be an added advantage.
