Job Description

This position is eligible for the Diversity Referral Award. The Accountant is responsible for the delivery of all controllership activities for the entity in Morocco and covering all territories associated with Morocco (Tunisia; Algeria and any other North Africa territories that may be supported out of Morocco in future). This role includes Financial Accounting, Reporting (US GAAP) and maintenance of the Control environment within the entity in line with Corteva policies, procedures and practices. Reconciliation of the US GAAP accounts maintained in SAP to the Moroccan GAAP accounts maintained by EY and ensuring that all Moroccan laws and legislation are complied with. The Accountant is the main contact between the Service Centers in Asturias and Hyderabad. Accountant will also be responsible for the provision of information required by Internal stakeholders (Commercial; HR; Procurement and others). The Accountant is responsible to co-ordinate all accounting both US GAAP and local books (managed by EY), assist with tax (as required by the area tax manager and tax consultants - EY) and other statutory related matters (handled by AME legal function). Liaising with Local Management in Morocco and Controllership Management based in Egypt. Communicating all Controllership requirements to Local Management and ensuring adherence to Policies and Procedures in the local environment as well as providing guidance to the Local Employees where this is required. Main Responsibilities: Ensuring that the financial accounting and reporting are in compliance with statutory and corporate requirements. This relates to monthly (CFIN), quarterly and annual reporting and ensuring that all reporting happens within the timelines and deadlines set. Ensure that an effective and efficient control environment is in place, in line with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 as well as the Internal Control Standards Manual. Reviewing of the local Financial Statements to ensure that these are in accordance with local GAAP requirements and liaising with the accounting service provider - to ensure that all adjustments are recorded. Within a period of six to nine months to move local reporting from local service provider and to bring it in-house for which the Accountant will be responsible going forward and thereby eradicating any dependence on local service provider for Financial Accounting assistance. Ensuring that all statutory filings are filed on time i.e. financial statements, taxes, VAT, withholding taxes and any other filings required by local laws in conjunction with local external counsel and professional advisers. Maintaining and improving accounting processes to make them more relevant and efficient (further automation where possible). Reviewing of the key contracts of the Business to ensure that they are correctly accounted for (Cost Recovery, SLAs, Loan facilities etc) Preparing and reviewing of account reconciliations as per company policies and procedures. Supporting the business in all aspects to ensure that there is a good, stable Control environment in place and highlighting areas of improvement through monitoring and providing feedback to leaders and proactively taking steps to address issues of Control breaches identified. Support Procurement & other departments for codifying of invoices for payments processing. Assist general business to understand which contracts are to be entered into with Corteva Morocco and which contracts are to be entered into with Corteva Switzerland. Process in place to ensure that all foreign payments as far as possible can be made out of the Moroccan Entity and are in compliance with the exchange regulations of the Exchange Bureau in Morocco. Foreign payments from Switzerland should be restricted to exceptional circumstances this should be a key priority. Ensuring that VAT is correctly claimed or not claimed on expenses paid by CGSC Team. This will entail a review of the webcycles to be processed. Attending to any queries relating to the AP process - delayed payments, short payments, correct VAT apportionment etc. Ensure that recording and reimbursement of travel expenses is correctly recorded and maintained Ensuring all documents and proper audit trail is maintained in accordance with local document retention policy. Attending to adhoc requests when these arise.

Qualifications & Experience: BComm Degree in Accounting or equivalent with 4-5 years work experience in a multinational environment is preferred. Chartered Accountant/ACCA would be an added advantage. Strong knowledge of Moroccan GAAP and good understanding of US GAAP. Competencies Core Competencies: Business acumen to understand the organization's business model, structure, systems, processes and to interpret relevant financial data. Communicating with impact to deliver clear messages and to simplify complex issues and make them understandable for the General Organization so that these can be resolved with ease. Self-starter and someone who has the ability to cope within a pressurized environment. A mature team player who is able to operate and collaborate cross functionally with all functions present in the Casablanca Office and build strong relationships with these functions that enhance the stature of the Controllership function within the organization. General attitude and respect for peers is an important attribute for success in this role. Functional Competencies: Broad knowledge of Country Legal and Regulatory Compliance processes, including application of laws and regulations and a good working knowledge of Corporate Income Tax, VAT and Employee Tax matters. Understanding of contract law and interpreting these for effective accounting reporting. Knowledge of end-to-end processes and how they feed into legal entity and business financial statements. Overall understanding of transactional and reporting systems and related interdependencies. Networking, ability to work with Service Centers that are located internationally. Multitasks, ability to navigate between different complex matters to quickly identify investigation and resolution paths. Strong advisor and proponent on Corporate Governance and Ethical behavior. Strong analytical, process improvement and problem-solving skills. Strong technology skills using SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other End user reporting tools. Excellent English is a must.
