Job Summary

The Accounts Manager - Accounts Payable will be responsible for managing and overseeing the complete accounts payable function of the construction company, including subcontractor payments, supplier invoices, payment certifications, and compliance with contractual and statutory requirements. The role requires strong leadership, control over high-volume transactions, and coordination with project, procurement, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the

Accounts Payable team

, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier and subcontractor payments. Oversee verification and booking of

subcontractor bills

, purchase invoices, advance payments, and retention accounting. Ensure compliance with

contract terms

, payment milestones, and approved BOQs. Coordinate with

Project Managers, QS, and Procurement

teams for invoice validation and payment approvals. Manage

payment schedules

, cash flow planning, and prioritize critical payments. Review and control

VAT compliance

, including correct VAT treatment and documentation. Ensure accurate accounting of

retention, mobilization advances, and contra entries

. Handle

vendor reconciliations

, statement confirmations, and resolution of disputes. Monitor and control

creditors ageing

, minimizing overdue balances and penalties. Prepare monthly

AP reports

, MIS, and management dashboards. Support

internal and external audits

and ensure compliance with company policies. Ensure adherence to

UAE accounting standards

, VAT laws, and statutory regulations. Implement and improve

AP processes, internal controls, and ERP systems

. Mentor and train junior AP staff to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in

Accounting, Finance, or Commerce

. Professional certification (CA / ACCA / CPA / CMA) -

preferred

. Minimum

8 years of relevant experience

, with at least

5 years in construction or contracting companies

. Strong experience in

subcontractor payments and project-based accounting

. Hands-on experience with

ERP systems

(Oracle, SAP, Tally, Dynamics, or similar). Excellent knowledge of

UAE VAT

, construction contracts, and payment procedures.

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and team management skills. In-depth knowledge of

construction accounts payable workflows

. Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills. Ability to manage

high-volume, deadline-driven environments
