About the position
The School Academic Coordinator is a pivotal role within the School of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). Reporting directly to the Head of School, the incumbent will play a crucial part in the seamless coordination and efficient management of various academic functions. With a focus on resource planning, student assessment, quality assurance, and fostering effective communication, the School Academic Coordinator will ensure the smooth functioning of academic processes while upholding the highest standards of educational excellence. Furthermore, the School Academic Coordinator\'s collaborative approach and attention to detail will be essential in facilitating a cohesive and productive academic ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: 1. Resource Planning and Management Coordinate with UOW for resource planning management, ensuring optimum utilization of available resources and facilities. Assist the school management with budget requests, contributing to effective resource planning. 2. Quality Assurance Coordinate the student assessment process, including exams, assessment committee meetings, grade submissions, moderations, and COG updates. Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) to ensure timely completion of quality assurance and accreditation activities. 3. Academic Coordination and Documentation Maintain a comprehensive Central Academic Repository, aligning subject folders with University guidelines and policies. Assist in the assignment of Subject Coordinators and academic advisors for each academic year. Finalize the academic handbook and degree catalogue in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research. 4. Communication and Feedback Coordinate Townhall Meetings and Focus Groups in partnership with the FRED office, gathering valuable feedback for school management. Facilitate effective communication between different stakeholders, enhancing the overall academic experience. 5. Administrative Support and Governance Provide administrative support to governance roles, including the Head of School, Discipline Leaders, and Lead Academic Advisor. Assist in processing students\' academic requests from the FRED team to faculty members. 6. Selection criteria - Education & Experience
  • Education & Experience ESSENTIAL
    • Relevant post-secondary certificate
    • Working knowledge of IT based student management systems
    • Knowledge of modern office practices, time management and procedures. DESIRABLE
    • Experience in academic planning.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with educational QA processes in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and with a cool temperament under pressure
  • Confidence in negotiating, handling issues and clients requests independently

Remuneration
The successful candidates will receive a remuneration package which includes an attractive tax free salary ranging from AED 84,000 - AED 96,000 per annum, five weeks of paid leave per year, annual air ticket, private medical insurance for self and eligible dependents, life & disability policy, professional development assistance, education allowance for up to 3 eligible children, professional development and fee waiver for self and dependents looking to pursue higher studies.
