3D Modelmaking and Digital Fabrication Lab Manager School of Architecture and Design American International University - Kuwait City for the 2023-2024 Academic year
American International University (AIU) is looking for a dynamic and engaged full-time 3D Modelmaking and Digital Fabrication Lab Manager for its School of Architecture and Design. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, building successful learning environments with students, who collaboratively engage with faculty and mentor students, and who are ambitious about developing new and impactful research within the Kuwait region.
The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be an active member of the design field. The individual will also be able to utilize and teach both studio coursework as well as technical or supplemental courses and demonstrate experience with standard industry tools including AutoCAD, 3D Max, Revit, & SketchUp. Also, the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The position carries the expectation for research and school and University service in addition to teaching responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
The 3D Modelmaking and Digital Fabrication Lab manager at the American International University-Kuwait will load, operate, maintain, and supervise the 3D Modelmaking and Digital fabrication labs that include the Laser Cut machine, 3D Printing, CNC Machines, Pattern Cutting Tables, and Hot Wire Foam Cutter.
Education and Skills Required: To qualify for this role, you must possess the following:

• Bachelor\'s degree in interior design/architecture or equivalent
• Experience in the following tools:
  • Laser Cut Machine

  • CNC Milling and Lathe Machines

  • 3D Printing

  • Pattern Cutting Table

  • Hot Wire Foam Cutter

  • Modular Router Table
• Professional in using design apps (AutoCAD, 3D Max, Revit, SketchUp)
• Ability to wear safety apparel and safety gear for extended periods of time, including helmet, respirator, and heat shroud.
• Team player, open to new ideas and teamwork, self-motivated individual, willing to continually strive to increase personal knowledge and value.
• Flexible, reliable, with the ability to work with no supervision.
• Good communication skills
• Fluency in the English Language

Job Requirements: The candidate should have the following qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge and experience in 3D modelmaking
• Loading/unloading parts from CNC milling machines, laser cut machines, pattern cutting tables, 3D printing, measuring and inspecting, making dimensional adjustments.
• Evaluate students\' designs to ensure they are compatible with the printer\xe2\x80\x99s settings.
• Capable of creating weekly and daily schedules for printing.
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of 3D Printing, CNC machines, pattern cutting tables, and Laser Cut machines operation and safety features.
• Able to calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
• Ability to supervise and manage the 3D Printers operations.
