Primary Objective You will provide design engineering services to Worley and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the water design engineering team. HSE Management: Ensure that HSE requirements are implemented in design. Compliance with HSE procedures Maintain HSE focus for project duration Client Relationships: Identify, document and communicate the client's and other disciplines' requirements with respect to roads and drainage. Maintain and build healthy client relationships throughout the project. Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost and schedule issues with the PM/Client as they arise. Commercial Management: Effective management of contract agreed man hours, including delivery of the budget gross margin. Scope Management: Work with other disciplines to determine the required roads and drainage scope Comply with requirements of the contract Effective management of roads and drainage disciplines and suppliers/contractors Manage and monitor the roads and drainage team's performance on an ongoing basis to identify issues and opportunities early and take pre-emptive action. Effectively manage project interfaces with roads and drainage Assist to identify and ensure deployment and use of the civil engineering software necessary to enable the roads and drainage team to function effectively. Review and/or approve calculations, technical notes, requisitions, specifications, drawings, vendor technical evaluations and similar deliverables produced by the section. Review vendor drawings. Time Management: Manage the planning of all scope elements of the roads and drainage works. Develop resource & financial requirements from the project plan. Manage the design and procurement activities to meet the project schedule Routine monitoring of the key reports and development of corrective action plans. Timely and effective documentation turnover and project close-out Cost Control: Assist the Engineering Manager to plan and prepare accurate project estimates. Assist the Engineering Manager to establish cost reports for control of projects. Assist the Engineering Manager in monitoring and control of all cost aspects of the roads and drainage works to forecast costs, obtain approvals, identify trends and take action to avoid cost overruns and take advantage of opportunities Quality Management: Define the roads and drainage quality requirements. Ensure the right systems are in place to meet the client's quality standards and that these are applied on the project. Ensure team compliance with WorleyParsons' policies and procedures. Implement a lessons learned system Team Management: Provide clear and focussed supervision and leadership for the roads and drainage project team to create a vision for project success and a strategy to fit that vision. Define roles and responsibilities Focus team on achievement of milestones and other key project objectives. Listen to the team, discuss the issues, resolve problems and direct activities to remove roadblocks and achieve objectives. Provide mentoring and participate in staff performance evaluations. Identify and implement training requirements Encourage cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives. Communications Management Effective communications with the project team. Documented communication requirements. Accurate, timely & effective progress reporting to the Engineering Manager. Risk Management: Identify roads and drainage risks and opportunity Monitor closure of all identified risks and opportunities. Maintain the risk management focus throughout the project duration within the roads and drainage area. Design Management: Set clear objectives for the roads and drainage design team. Ensure the design team are aware of, and complying with, the client's Basis of Design and applicable regulations and codes. Monitor design activities, inter-discipline data flow and communications. Job Specific Knowledge: Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment. Specialized expertise of the regulations, codes and standards ((QHDM, QTCM, AASHTO, DMRB, HCM, MUTCD) and a good understanding of engineering practices applicable to roads and highways discipline. Full understanding of QHDM and traffic manuals. Full understanding of requirements of Ashghal - roads and drainage requirement. Coordination with Designers (CAD) and quality workmanship. Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to achieving the One-Way Vision and its associated requirements. Demonstrable commitment to HSE Management in a roads and drainage environment Prepare concepts and provide input to the layout facilities for conformance Active involvement in projects with design, procurement and construction components. Knowledge of pavement design using latest methods. Proven experience in lead positions with an ability to organise, plan and supervise works being executed by others in the discipline. Software Skills: Civil 3D, Autoturn, SYNCHRO, Sidra, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite Technical and Industry Experience Minimum 12 years + design experience within the heavy industry and 8+ years team and design management experience People Skills: Able to work in diverse team. Builds appropriate, constructive, and effective business relationships throughout the organization. Communicates (in English) clearly, accurately, and consistently both verbally and in written matters. Employs the principles of active listening and encourages feedback from others. Other: Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn and continuously improve on performance. Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity. Able to work effectively in small to large multi-disciplinary teams, and share and transfer knowledge within teams. Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
