To implement and monitor Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and Procedures;
objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of learners, staff, and visitors.
To establish budget proposals for the operation of the Occupational Health and Safety office and specific training programs;
To increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization;
To investigate and report on all serious/critical personal injury accidents occurring to staff and/or visitors to the appropriate senior official, and to assist in the investigation of all accidents/incidents that result in substantial damage to the property;
To investigate and report on complaints of hazardous working conditions to the department head.
To respond to employees' safety concerns;
To conduct, as necessary, the safety inspection of any facility;
To respond to fire and other emergencies on or about the company property;
To coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste;
To arrange for Occupational Health and Safety testing and/or evaluations of the workplace by external agencies/consultants as may be necessary;
To coordinate as liaison with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies;
To coordinate the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections, and other matters related to implementing safety procedures in Board facilities;
To assist executive staff, senior administrators, Managers, and supervisors in emergency preparedness;
To implement appropriate sections of the department's Emergency Procedures Manual;
To liaise with the municipality and Emergency planners, update plans, organize exercises and evaluate procedures;
To liaise with the fire department regarding emergency procedures, communications, and fire safety education programs;
To assume other duties as may be assigned
visiting various projects to inspect processes and procedures and ensure good health and safety practices;
investigating accidents and complaints and determining if there has been a breach of health and safety law;
Carrying out examinations of machinery, working environments, and structures, taking measurements of noise, heat, and vibrations, and taking photographs and samples where necessary;
Ensuring workers are provided with suitable protective equipment, such as eye goggles, ear protectors, or appropriate types of gloves and clothing;
Responsible for any ISO-related activities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degrees or equivalent
5-6 Years Experience in Building Maintenance or Facilities Management industries.
NEBOSH International General Certificate (Mandatory)
IOSH Managing Safely and Working Safely
IMS certification
