Job description
Overview The Construction Director will plan and conduct work requiring a significant level of judgment in the independent evaluation of requirements for project, and will apply their knowledge of design, construction and operations to devise approaches to any issues encountered. The successful candidate will have considerable experience in delivering successful project roll-outs, and the personal qualities and gravitas to influence in both a complex-matrix internal environment and with external bodies. They will also have experience in working at a very senior level and will have the industry standing to network, influence and partner with senior management, project and client-team. Specific Responsibilities
Supporting the Project Director, in managing and overseeing the construction-related parts of the project within time, budgetary and design specific constraints
Functioning as project manager for construction activities; including leading the management, scheduling, coordination, monitoring and execution of construction activities.
Actively assembling field offices consisting of multi-disciplinary teams and identifying Resident Engineer teams to oversee the construction, inspection and verification of the contractor activities.
Providing strategic oversight and direction to the on-site technical, multi-disciplined construction staff responsible for site supervision on the project
Leading the construction team through site mobilization, execution, and demobilization activities to ensure the orderly, efficient, and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with contractual requirements
Leading the Construction inspection and oversight teams to correctly evaluate all contractor activities addressing construction methodology, project quality plans, safety plans, schedules and compliance with contractual requirements
Representing the PMC team at coordination meetings with the client and liaising with various project entities, third parties and stakeholders
Overseeing, developing and streamlining operational processing and procedures related to construction, review and approving the contractor‘s work execution plan.
Providing constructability reviews of plans and specifications to evaluate scheduled activities and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, and coordinating the availability of requisite equipment.
Coordinating the preparation of various schedule projections for construction activities as per contract requirements and coordinating its integration with the Master Schedule with the Project Controls Team.
Actively leading the coordination and review of construction progress presented by the contractor and presenting to the client, commenting on non-compliance, areas of concern and corrective actions.
Working with the contractor with suggestions to optimize the sequencing of activities to mitigate schedule slips.

Skills / Competencies
Demonstrable experience in the construction management of Marine construction projects of substantial size and above average complexity in urban environments
Successful track record in leading and managing multi-disciplined engineering teams and sub-contractors
Ability to interface with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level
Ability to work with diverse stakeholders at all levels in order to negotiate win-win situations
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to convey the right messages
Ability to meet deadlines in a highly pressurized and ever-changing work environment
Previous experience in a PMC
