Role Description:Title: Sustainability Associate Manager, SMBU Division/Department: Majid Al Futtaim - Property Management & PropTech Career Level: Associate Manager Reporting to: Director, Property Management & PropTech Location: UAE - Head office Role Purpose:The role will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Malls' sustainability strategy in particular Net Positive commitment, working with internal stakeholders (including the Holding Sustainability team and external advisors to develop and deliver relevant targets, policies and guidelines). The candidate will play a part in shaping the Group's very ambitious net positive commitment and act as a champion for various initiatives within Shopping Malls. The Sustainability Manager, Shopping Malls will be responsible for coordinating delivery of Shopping Malls' contribution to the Group Net Positive commitment and supporting the various sustainability champions and stakeholders in progressing their targets. The Sustainability Manager, Shopping Malls must be analytical and detail oriented, yet capable of thinking strategically and managing the relationship with the Shopping Malls Operations and MAF Holding Sustainability teams. Role Details - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Influence and identify the Sustainability strategy of the organization, by supporting and driving optimal solutions to manage and forecast Sustainability initiatives and resultsCoordinate the implementation of the Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Malls' sustainability strategy and associated policies through the network of sustainability managers and champions within Majid Al Futtaim Group. Develop budgets and timeframes for Sustainability changes to support company objectivesResponsible for Calculating and Pitching Potential Value of initiativesFoster an environment that embodies Majid Al Futtaim core valuesGuarantee reporting is done in a timely manner, both Management reporting (updates on sustainability activity/Net Positive initiatives) to Operational Reporting (SBTI, environmental performance data, etc)Maintain awareness of current legislation and market best practice relating to sustainability and environmental compliance. Contribute to the modernization and innovation agenda of Property Management, having a Sustainability focus in place. Recommend management actions to ensure statutory and industry obligations are met and that a market leading approach is sustained. Create a roadmap for SMBU operation to ensure achievement of SBTi annual targets and provide input for reporting back to the investorsEnsure the implementation planning and execution updates quarterly on SBTI initiatives such as energy retrofit, water efficiency, carbon reduction and onsite/offsite renewable energy implementations projects as required to furnish the SBTI taskforce template.Manage the environmental performance data on SOFI and relevant evidence to the assurance folder to achieve 100% data assurance approval by 3rd party consultant (both qualitative and quantitative). Provide input and represent SMBU in different committees such as Green Star, Refurbishment, green building, etc Manage and embed the Sustainability Change Management and Learning Program for Shopping Malls communityDefinition of Success SMBU is fully compliant in executing Majid Al Futtaim - Group sustainability strategy Gold and Platinum certification for Shopping Malls according to set planShopping Malls' teams are fully aware and are advocates of our Sustainability strategy and targetsOther Context (if applicable): - The role will be primarily office based - Travelling will be required to offices and assets within Majid Al Futtaim - Shopping Malls Functional/Technical Competencies Ability to influence and manage conflicting requirementsStrategic thinking across multiple industries, company types and assetsAbility to analyze and act upon large data setsPersonal Characteristics and Required Background: Skillset (job specific technical skills) Technical sustainability skills e.g. green buildings, carbon management, health, and wellbeingStrong project management skills to manage program of work with internal and external partnersGood communication skills in writing and in person to engage staff internallyAnalytical and advanced Excel skillsMinimum experience Minimum of seven years' experience in a sustainability related role in a corporate organization or consultancyKnowledge of the real estate industry and the built environmentMinimum Qualifications/education A post-graduate degree in a sustainability or real estate related discipline e.g. environmental sciences, geography, architecture, engineeringCertified sustainability related professional e.g. LEED AP or WELL certified
